About The Pandor family
The Pandor Family originated from Italva ,Palsana,India.
The Pandor Surname has never been altered or changed unlike other families from India. As a matter of fact family surname came about their professions, skills,or even casts, hence they were given nicknames, which would describe their profession,or trade,or even skills and possessions, some examples of such customs stills exists today in remote parts of India, examples such as: Tyrewala,Gorawala,Jinnwala, that later became their
surname. Moreover,Patel were known as those who worked as civil servant,or any work liased with the government.

It should be noted that the Pandor Family and Pandore Family are all from the same family . The Pandor with the E in the end came about, when Childrens of Moosa Pandor moved to the island of Mauritius, whereby the country native language was creole, which is in fact broken French. Our grandfathers did not know how to read or write that language,at the time. Consequently, the E was added on their children birth certificates, and when they were naturalised as Mauritians

Moosa Pandor was very well respected in the village. He was extremely religious and took great in performing his religious duties.
He was the leader of the village,People would come from nearby villages,Taraj,Palsana,Vesma,Taria, and from far to ask for advice, to judge on certain matters, both in duniya and deen.He was just and compassionate.
Its said that once Mahatma Gandhi came especially to visit him,so the inhabitants from the village Italwa, were preparing a red carpet to welcome him,Mossa said that Mahatma Ghandhi, was a human being like him,and the villagers must treat him as any other person,He prevented them from doing a grandiose welcome,Hence he sat on the floor with him and talk.

Maulana Ahmad Pandore, started praying his five daily prayers at the age of seven, was educated in religion in Taraj his teacher was Mowlana Mohammad Ali Kara,he finished his alim course and further studies in Deoband university,He was a very charismatic figure.also he was very strict in religion, and never to my knowledge missed his 5 daily prayers. He followed in someways the foothstep of his father. He one day, tied his brother Qari Suleman to a tree upside down, beating him up,as he was a teenager, and was not too focussed in learning the Quraan, and used to run away from the Madressah.

He would wake all his members of his family for Fajr Prayers everyday,he used to bang on the doors of his children with his walking stick,he would not stop until everybody is awake,he would also check if they came to the Masjid,or before and after every Prayers.

He would always put others first, before any member of his family, and would do anything within his capacity to help people, whether family, acquaintances ,or even complete strangers. One day when he finished praying Zohar,he approached somebody inthe Masjid, who looked in distress, and was crying,he took him to his house.fed him so that the person may feel at ease, the would enquire about his worries, the person had a large debts,he immediately gave him a letter,to give to somebody, and alhamduliiah the man problem was resolved,he became a millionaire.

He was much involved in propagating the religion,he give very long talks for 2 to 3 hours, the people attending the talks would never be bored, nor would one of them move or leave. He was very strict in teaching the children in Madrassah, many a time i would witness grown up persons coming to him and said that Maulana you used to beat me a lot when i was in the madressah, but i would like to thank you for making me learn, and i am so ever greatful to you,

Before the independance of Mauritius from England ,a referendum was held to determine if The country would be independant,or remain a colony.Sir Seewsagar Ramgoolam ,Abdul Razak Mohammed came to see him to,so as convince the muslims electorates to vote for independance of Mauritius From the British,as on the ballot papers the muslims were counted as indomauritian, meaning indian, instead of muslims, he had to convince them that being counted as Indomauritian, does not make you a non believer,as some imams claimed out of ignorance.Hence he had a hand in the independance of that country.

His brother Yusuf who went to South Africa when he was very young and had not had any contact with any members of his family since. One day when he was listening to the radio he heard his brother Qari Suleman Pandor, reading the Quraan Kareem from the radio station in Mauritius, and wanted to meet his brothers,as he was with Mandela and others in the wilderness of South Africa.

Once during his visits to South Africa, some South africans came Maulana Ahmad, and told him he must come with them at once,as somebody wanted to meet him desperately,he was taken from Durban to an unknown location about 6 to 8 hours drive, then he came to a place, where he met his brother who was at that time with Nelson Mandela,as they were in hiding from the South African Apartheid Regime, was fighting for the freedom of South Africans.
